Job Description

Purpose:
The Driver provides safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for our residents.

• Possess a valid and active driver’s license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess a Commercial Driving License (CDL).
• Meets federal/state/company driving standards (may include license verification, drug testing and driver’s test).
• Speak and read English well enough to converse and communicate effectively 
• Know how to safely load and properly block, brace, and secure passengers and cargo.
• Must meet all health requirements, including TB.
• Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Essential Functions:
Driving responsibilities:

• Drive community residents to outings including doctor’s appointment, banking, and activities.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the bus.
• Secure wheelchair clamps or safety belts according to Company policy and procedure.
• Prepare the bus for operation by performing Daily pre-trip safety inspections and maintaining a transportation log for all outings/use of the bus.
• Monitors the ongoing condition of the bus during operation.
• Immediately report all incidents and accidents to the community according to Company policy.

Maintenance Assistant responsibilities:

• Assist with general maintenance repairs and improvements, including but not limited to:
• Operate power tools (drill, saws, etc.).
• Repair plumbing fixtures (leaky faucets, toilets, sinks, drain, valves, water lines).
• Plunge toilets, sink, and floor drain.
• Repair electrical apparatus (lights, switches, outlets, motors, icemakers, appliances).
• Hang pictures, draperies, and vertical blinds.
• Replace overhead light bulbs; Repair outdoor lighting and plumbing.
• Repair appliances (garbage disposal, dishwashers, icemakers, laundry equipment, stoves, heating and air conditioning equipment, commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, telephone systems, nurse call systems).
• Perform rough and finish carpentry.
• Hang wall cabinets (kitchen and bath).
