Location: Oakland, California (Remote OK)
Reports To: Program Associate - Pre-release
Pay: $60,000/year
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary – Program Assistant (Mostly Remote)

Bonafide is hiring a Program Assistant to support our reentry work with people returning from long-term incarceration. This remote role ensures that our volunteer advisor team has the necessary tools and support to succeed.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to equity and restoration. You’ll manage digital rosters, organize community resources, including updating and maintaining the internal resource website, and help train and coordinate volunteers — all in service of helping people transition home with dignity.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the internal resource website, including:
  
   
  • Housing resources
    
     
  • County reentry listings
    
     
  • Advisor support materials
    
     
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to gather and share up-to-date reentry information.
  
   
• Manage Preintegration Program-related social media and communications.
  
   
• Respond to advisor questions regarding parole preparation and reentry pathways.
  
   
• Post and manage resumes, dress-outs, and birth certificate requests.
  
   
• Train and support new volunteers in:
  
   
  • Slack and Google Suite tools
    
     
  • Preintegration program and CDCR navigation
    
     
  • Participant tracking and communication
    
     
• Maintain and update weekly SOMS rosters (Sign-In Sheet, TBA, Released, Dropped, etc.)
  
   
• Assign clients to advisors in collaboration with the team.
  
   
• Assist with gate clearance and beige card processes (or future workflows).
  
   
• Visit San Quentin advising sessions once per month.
  
   
• Collaborate with leadership to review and improve operational processes (e.g., process mapping, intake forms).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or knowledge of CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) operations or reentry support systems.
  
   
• Lived experience with incarceration or a strong understanding of the system-impacted community.
  
   
• Comfortable using Google Suite, Slack, and web-based platforms.
  
   
• Previous experience in program management, case management, or community organizing.
  
   
• An Associate of Arts degree or equivalent experience is required.
