We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist III to join our team in Green Valley. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining data records. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
+ Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow all physician orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
+ Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and ensure proper storage conditions.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Phlebotomy certification valid in the state of employment.
+ Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 5-7 years of experience in phlebotomy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to troubleshoot, train, and make workflow recommendations.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
The work environment involves a fast-paced lab or hospital setting where you will interact with patients and medical staff. You will use a variety of tools and techniques including straight and butterfly needles. Compliance with safety and health regulations is essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr.
