Job Title: Senior Home Stager – Lead Home Stylist/Visual Merchandiser (Full-Time)

Location: New York, NY (Must be NYC-based with weekly travel to our Hudson Valley Headquarters)

This is not an entry-level position.

We are looking to hire a seasoned, full-time home stager/stylist based in New York City who can not only execute high-end staging and styling projects but also lead and manage teams across multiple installations. This is a leadership role—ideal for someone who is equally comfortable making design decisions, directing others, and taking full ownership of complex projects. This is NOT A TRADITIONAL DESIGN ROLE. We do not care about AutoCad, REVIT or your drawing ability. We are specifically and keenly looking for a senior level stylist, home decor visual merchandiser for a managerial role. THIS IS A HANDS-ON ROLE in which the ideal candidate is able to personally execute luxury visual merchandising while also managing and mentoring a young team.

Cathy Hobbs Design Recipes is an award-winning home staging and design firm led by 5-time Emmy Award-winning television host, author, and HGTV Design Star finalist, Cathy Hobbs. With an in-house team and expansive inventory, we serve top real estate agents and luxury properties throughout Manhattan and beyond.

Our new headquarters, Highland Passive House—the first multi-use Passive House Certified warehouse in North America—serves as our design center and furniture hub for expanding services across the Hudson Valley and into short-term rental and hospitality design.

Who You Are:

• A confident, experienced designer with 3–5+ years in home staging or interior visual merchandising.
• A natural leader with at least 1–2 years of experience managing a design team, directing install crews, running projects from concept through execution.
• Comfortable assigning tasks, training junior staff, and making on-site decisions with minimal oversight.
• Able to manage fast-paced, detail-oriented staging projects in high-end real estate.
• Skilled in furniture curation, styling, and on-site execution.
• Organized, solution-oriented, and deeply collaborative.
• Willing and able to travel to the Hudson Valley 1–2 days per week as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage home staging projects from concept to installation.
• Direct and oversee a team of designers, stylists, and logistics staff.
• Curate and style luxury real estate listings and hospitality properties.
• Collaborate with our NYC and Hudson Valley teams to maintain high visual standards.
• Act as a point person for quality control, on-site execution, and team accountability.
• Work with company leadership to streamline workflow and improve operations.
• Assist with furniture selection, layout, and installation support.

Qualifications:

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in home staging or home décor visual merchandising.
• 1–2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.
• Strong design portfolio showcasing interior styling and staging projects.
• Ability to lead installs and coordinate team roles on-site.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• NYC-based and able to travel to our Hudson Valley Headquarters near New Paltz, NY (1–2 days/week as needed).

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with short-term rental or hospitality property design.
• Familiarity with inventory management, procurement, or logistics.
• Hands-on skills such as hanging artwork, arranging accessories, or assembling furniture.
• Strong social media or content creation background.
