Tax Manager

Practice Area : Private Equity, HNW & Corporate Tax

Location : St. Louis, MO 63105

Schedule : Remote/Hybrid with only 1 day (Tuesdays) per week required onsite. Tax Season at most is 45-50 hours per week, maintains the same schedule pretty much as the rest of the season.

Salary : $105,000–$120,000 annually, plus performance bonuses (market-based range for St. Louis mid-to-large firms)

The Client:

A STL-based CPA Firm with regional presence with nearly a century of service to the St. Louis community. The firm is actively seeking to add Tax Manager with 4-5 years of public accounting experience to join their team, which is known for its a relaxed culture characterized as hands-off and not micromanaging, They only require Tuesdays as mandatory in-office day, even during tax season.

Known for having a small-sized family-oriented vibe, the firm is presently experiencing sustained growth as more private equity and high-net worth families flock to the Midwest and needs a motivated tax professional ready for to transition into a leadership role as Tax Manager. This role is urgent due to expanding client base and increased demand for specialized tax advisory.

Description:

The individual hired will lead and mentor a team of junior staff in providing service to private equity clients, corporations, HNW/UHNW estates. General job duties will entail creating tax strategies for deferred compensation, gift & estate tax filings, quarterly corporate returns and multi-state tax compliance. The Tax Manager will oversee and review a diverse range of tax engagements for businesses, individuals, trusts, and estates. The position involves guiding clients through complex tax strategies, conducting in-depth research, and identifying savings opportunities. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, legal counsel, and internal teams on matters such as M&A tax planning, restructuring, and multi-state compliance. This role offers opportunities for business development, relationship building, and leadership within a collaborative, client-focused environment. With a hybrid 1-day per week required work schedule, tax season doesn't vary much from the rest of the year, with a max of maybe 45-50 hours per week extra during tax season as the firm maintains a robust workload throughout the year with its corporate clients and tax advisory. Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in accounting or taxation with active CPA license
• 4+ years recent, relevant public accounting experience
• Advanced technical expertise in tax compliance and planning
• Strong background with S-corporations and partnerships
• Proven project management and critical thinking skills
• Effective communicator with clients and colleagues
• Experience managing and mentoring staff
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Curiosity and drive to resolve complex tax issues

Technology : Firm uses CCH ProSystem FX and Intelliconnect software
