Job Description

St. Pius X Catholic Church and School in Indianapolis IN, is currently seeking a full-time Youth & Young Adult Ministry Coordinator, to facilitate the evangelization, formation, and discipleship of Middle School, High School Students and Young Adults in our parish. The Youth & Young Adult Coordinator provides leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of ministry programs for youth and young adults within the parish community. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Host weekly middle, and high school youth and young adult group sessions, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for guiding students and young adults through their journey of faith and/or preparation for sacraments. Plan and organize youth and young adult retreats, missions, and social outings to teach youth and adults about the Catholic faith and service through interactive and relevant lessons. Co-lead confirmation classes and preparation through completion of the program.

• Plans, develops and implements a schedule of social opportunities for the parish youth to form community identity and establish peer relationships within the parish community. Recruit middle school and high school youth to participate in retreats, service projects and weekly gathering.
• Plans at least three retreats annually helping our parish youth growth in Faith
• Work with Director of Evangelization to create a 24-week annual plan for curriculum using The Edge resources (social, issue and catechetical) as well as additional material that fits into the vision for youth ministry.
• Lead Edge sessions each week which includes preparing games, proclaims, and prayerful activities. Has knowledge of Life Teen and Edge programs.
• Recruit, guide, teach and develop the Edge Core Team.
• Develops peer ministry to assist in retreats, service opportunities, and prayer experiences with junior high students. Recruit youth and young adult from the Burmese Community to take part in parish activities.
• Actively Develops, coordinates, and publicizes the Youth and Young Adult Ministry Calendar of Events
• Plans social gathers to bring Young adults and young families together at the parish.
• Promote, plan and initiate The Rescue Project specifically for Young Adults.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent public speaking and relationship building.
• Ability to adapt, be flexible & multi-task in a fast-changing environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with team and volunteers.
• Moral life according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Teachable spirit. Willing to take on new tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION

The ideal qualifications include experience in Young Adult/Youth Ministry or a related field. An earned Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
