Job Description

Position Summary:

The qualified candidate will demonstrate a general working knowledge of "live" broadcast and data center environments. Tasks will include maintaining the integrity of active cabling systems. The candidate will support cabling installation projects as assigned to them by the Senior Supervisor. The individual must have experience in the installation and termination of copper (coax/network/multi-conductor) cable products (fiber optics a plus), perform mechanical configurations on equipment racks, install broadcast equipment and work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Works on projects as assigned by Senior Supervisor
  • Works in close liaison with the Lead and Senior Technician for direction and project updates
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment
  • Complies with all department install standards, safety policies and procedures
  • Lead by example and uphold company culture and policies
  • General understanding of reading VidCad drawings (signal flow diagrams), rack elevations and cable wire lists
  • Aid peers in learning new skill sets when appropriate
  • Perform rack set-up / mechanics associated with project builds (or other project related mechanics within reason)
  • Install broadcast related equipment
  • Cable cutting, termination, labeling, dressing and cable runs (coax, multi-conductor and network cable)
  • Basic knowledge in use of department test gear (Fluke DSX5000, Paladin 1570, Cable IQ, etc.)
  • Assist in testing and or troubleshooting to complete projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

  • Good listening and organizational skills

  • Basic working knowledge of Google Sheets and Google Docs
  • Basic mathematic knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and geometry)
  • Ability to read and understand installation documentation
  • Ability to adapt to change within a project in sometimes stressful environment
  • Operational knowledge of hand and power tools, cable strippers, crimpers etc.

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years' experience related to broadcast / data center / telecommunication installations
  • High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred
  • Other industry associated certificates a plus (i.e. , FOI, FOA CFOT / CPCT, low voltage, BICSI, SCTE etc.) but not required
  • CPR / AED Certified a plus but not required

Working Conditions:

  • Typically working indoors in a climate controlled environment; outdoor work dependent on work requests made by clients
  • Work environment in equipment rooms have varying noise level ranges as dictated by equipment you are working with or near
  • Working conditions can include, working in an office environment, high precarious places (on ladders and on top of a grid system), beneath computer sub floors in tight confined spaces, etc.
  • Employee will be routinely required to: Sit, Walk, Climb, Stand, Reach, Use Hands, Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, Crawl, Talk, Hear, See (Near / Far)
  • May be required to lift up to 50lbs
  • Working in areas of varying temperatures (hot/cold) as needed
  • Position may require you to work overnight for short periods of time as dictated by projects
  • Typical work week is 40 hours (may be required to work overtime as the operational nature of the business requires)
